Barney Family History |
|
When they moved to the Queen Creek area in 1949, Newell and Katherine Barney didn’t know they would become early settlers of one of the fastest growing communities in Arizona. Together they have worked for 62 years to build their lives, their farm, and their family. Out of the desert soil, they forged an oasis of cotton, corn, potatoes, and what is arguably the best watermelon in the state of Arizona. Their family grew right along with every seed and they were blessed with seven hard-working children. Today their posterity has grown to include 67 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Newell and Katherine have lived lives of faith, humility, generosity, and love and now their legacy can live on through the success of the Barney Family Sports Complex. This state-of-the-art facility officially opened for business in January 2009 and will strive to provide a positive athletic environment for generations to come.
